Fifth Breath
is a yoga brand committed to zero waste and full biodegradability. Their signature product is a yoga mat made from New Zealand sheep’s wool with natural rubber inclusions for grip. From the mat itself down to the last piece of sticky tape used in packaging, everything is designed to return to nature without harm.
Brief
The task was to create an identity and packaging system that reflects Fifth Breath’s core values:
-
Sustainability — 100% biodegradable products and packaging.
-
Authenticity — natural materials sourced from New Zealand.
-
Premium simplicity — calm, minimal aesthetics aligned with yoga culture.
The challenge was to communicate not just the functionality of the mats but also the brand’s philosophy of mindful living and environmental respect.
Concept Development
The design direction was built on:
Natural textures and colors — earthy neutrals and soft contrasts that mirror wool and raw rubber.
Minimal typography — clean, calm, and timeless.
Eco-transparency — emphasis on storytelling about material origin, production, and zero-waste commitment.
Moodboards combined nature-inspired palettes, organic surfaces, and modern minimalism, creating a sense of grounding and balance.
Final Outcome
The final branding for Fifth Breath conveys:
Calm minimalism — aligned with yoga practice and holistic living.
Eco-luxury — premium design rooted in natural authenticity.
Sustainability — every detail, from product to packaging, supports the zero-waste promise.
This project highlights how design can amplify a brand’s values: beauty, functionality, and environmental integrity working together.
As noted by The Design Chaser, Fifth Breath mats are more than a product — they represent a mindful, sustainable lifestyle.
